About Department

The department of Botany was established in the college with an aim to disseminate knowledge of plant science in the students and also to inculcate a sense of responsibility in them so that they explore but not exploit the plant world. The department has a laboratory cum lecture room, a store room for equipments and a cabin for the faculty.

Message of the HOD

All the concerned are expected to come forward and work for the welfare of the plant kingdom. There is a dire need to cultivate an immediate response to the distortion and destruction of the vegetation in the present day material world with the strong influence of consumerism and plastic culture. The practice of biodiversity and ecology will be encouraged to save the earth from complete devastation. To spread the awareness among the students as the responsibility of getting things organized lies with the future generation. A big and creative push is required to bring the best out of the young minds and talent of the students for the welfare of the all the stockholders. As a HOD of the Department I am proud of my department and my sincere students.

Establishment of true understanding of the biodiversity and the role of human to explore the depth of the world of plant kingdom and encouragement to the concerned to work and undertake study to search for the true knowledge.

Mission of Department

  • To develop interest and enthusiasm among the students towards the subject and attain excellence in the field of plant science.
  • To develop the department as a leading centre of higher education that bestows academic environment to the students and prepare them for future application of their knowledge.
  • To foster holistic attitude towards Nature and all the creations of the Nature.
  • To create rational understanding of the invaluable objects of Mother Nature and spread awareness about the implications of the disrespect towards natural phenomena.
  • To promote projects and participative learning with the various stockholders for the preservation of the rare and other medicinal plants in the local areas.
  • To educate the local farmers to adopt sustainable farming with the incentives and awareness regarding the enormous value of ancient traditional verities of crops.
  • To encourage the cultivation of indigenous crops to maintain the biodiversity of the area to protect the rich ecology.
  • To shift from the conventional assessment methods to the more formative assessment criterion to enhance the skill of the students.
  • To use the prevalent taxonomies and other relevant parameters to prepare the curriculum and the teaching plan for the welfare of the students.
