Library

The College library is the Integral part of the resource of information, knowledge and wisdom for the academic community for the growth and academic excellence. The College Library has been playing a very significant role in the educational process and it is the heart of the institution. The library is the storehouse of knowledge that helps achieve the objectives of education, conservation of knowledge and ideas as well as teaching and research programmes. Our College Library performs a variety of functions by the way of collecting information, processing, retrieving the relevant information and providing it to the users. The library also helps the students and faculty with text books, reference books, magazines and journals and also e-resources with respect to all subject areas.

The college library was setup to provide with an affordable access to all the students with quality text and reference books. Today it has grown to over 15,000 books with addition of e-resources as well. The growth of the library collections has been in tune with the growing needs of institution.

The stacking and the accommodation has been planned and customized to facilitate the visitors to use the sections in the library with ease and efficient manner saving time and manpower. The Library is divided into different sections – Home Issue Section, Reading Room Section, Periodical Section, Reference Section, Self Financing Courses Section, E-Resources Section, and a Multimedia Section. This helps to maximize the efficiency in services provided to the library users. Access is also provided to fully downloadable e-books, e-journals, audio books, theses, rare books, manuscripts, e-learning content, etc. for the benefit of the users. The library is being automated with ILMS (integrated library management) software SOUL 2.0 (Software for University Libraries) of INFLIBNET. The various housekeeping activities of the library such as data entry, issue and return of books, member logins etc are done through the software. OPAC (Online public access catalogue) service is also being planned to provide where the users can search the collection of books by title, author, publisher etc. Barcode technology is being planned to be implemented at the circulation counter. The Open Access system in our library facilitates quick and better access to the books. The books are classified according to Dewey decimal classification.

Mission

  • To facilitate access to information, knowledge, and wisdom and to encourage scholarly communication to academic fraternity to support teaching learning and research related activities.
  • To manage materials to acquire, disseminate and make use of library resources.
  • To collaborate with the faculty and the other stakeholders to collect, record, document and sources to enrich the library resources.
  • To encourage and promote to document the rich culture and tradition of local community for the preservation and further inheritance to the future generation.
  • To create an appropriate environment to foster purposeful and scholarly learning and research especially in the field of rich Tribal culture.
  • To understand the needs of the local students and the community to enhance the proficiency of the library and the outcome of the library facilities.


The College Library has subscribed to the N-LIST programme i.e. (National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content) of INFLIBNET funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. This programme gives access to more than 6,000+ e-journals and more than 31, 35,000+ e-books. It covers subject areas like humanities, social sciences, physical sciences, chemical sciences, biological sciences, medical sciences, mathematical sciences, law, history, political sciences, linguistics, literature, to mention a few. Access has also been provided to JSTOR through N-LIST from January 2013. These resources are available 24 X 7 through REMOTE ACCESS on the user’s devices – Desktops, Laptops, and Mobile phones.

All the bonafide Students, teachers and other members of the staff of the college are entitled to become member of the library. The library can extend its membership to retired faculty, alumnae with the permission of the principal.

  • For Post Graduate Students 5Books for14 Days
  • Teaching Staff 10 Books for30 Days
  • Non Teaching Staff 5 for Books 30 Days

Photocopying Service:

The photocopy and the scanning facility has been provided with to the visitors of the library. The library helps in providing photocopies of articles/text to students and staff members from documents available in the library. For this purpose user may get the desired document issued against his/her library card and return the same immediately after getting it photocopied from the vendor or at the Library itself by paying nominal charges for the same.

The library provides with both hard and soft copies of question papers for the benefit of the user student community to get idea about the pattern of the examination.

This library has a book bank facility to loan the text books to the poor and needy students of this institute for the whole academic year with the prior recommendation of the staff Council.

Books newly added to the library are displayed on the New Arrival Display Rack for the information and circulation before they are released for loan to the students and the staff members.
