The Department of Hindi is as old as the institution itself and has been offering invaluable wisdom of Hindi literature and language to the students for their linguistic competency and excellence. The Department offers various courses for the students of B.A/ B.SC /B.Com. Hindi, being an important language among the all other national languages and it has an official language status throughout India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Its script “DEVANAGIRI” is written and spoken and accepted worldwide. Our thrust has always been on the student attributes and on holistic development of the students so that they can display multiple skills in Hindi language. Apart from the academic achievements the Department engages in various co-curricular activities. The department annually organizes Hindi week during Hindi Divas to highlight the importance of Hindi language. There is a marked stress on the learning of Hindi language particularly to use the skill in the language for official communication in the offices as there are special courses for official correspondence to enhance the skill of the students.
The Hindi language has ample opportunities for career planning as all the competitive exams evaluate command and proficiency in the language for all the vacancies. The faculty always makes sure that the students are advised to keep in mind the latest developments in the competitive exams pattern. The Department offers a wide range in the syllabus that includes not only literature but also Grammar and Translation Studies. This would provide a wide scope for the students to refine the language and equip themselves for translation, media and press and in IT sectors for content writing. The department encourages the students to explore the local contextual learning of language to develop functional attributes of the language. The assignments and projects on the comparative study of the local dialect and Hindi language is promoted to enhance the awareness of the traditional rich culture and oral legends and folklores and folktales to preserve the rich treasure of tribal culture.
