Eco-Club

The Eco Club of Thakur Sain Negi Govt. College, Reckong Peo is committed to promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students and the local community. The club actively organizes plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, environmental awareness programs, seminars, workshops, and activities focused on conservation of natural resources.

The Eco Club encourages students to adopt eco-friendly habits, reduce waste, conserve water and energy, and contribute towards maintaining ecological balance. Through meaningful participation and community engagement, the club aims to develop environmentally responsible citizens.

Eco-Club Activity

Eco Club Activities at Thakur Sen Negi Government College, Reckong Peo

  • Cleanliness Drives: Regular Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaigns are conducted within the college to maintain cleanliness and instil environmental responsibility.
  • Action-Based Initiatives: Activities such as tree plantation, campus cleanliness drives, and the development of green spaces are regularly undertaken.
  • Living Gardens: The Eco Club actively cultivates living gardens comprising flowers, herbs, and native plant species, enhancing the ecological value of the campus.
  • Environmental Awareness Programs: Lectures, seminars, and competitions are organized to raise awareness among staff and students on environmental issues and sustainable development practices.
  • Promotion of Sustainable Practices: These awareness activities encourage the college community to adopt eco-friendly habits and reduce their carbon footprint.
  • Waste Management: Burning of waste and fallen leaves is strictly prohibited. Instead, organic waste is composted and used as manure for the college’s plants and trees.
  • Seasonal Plantation: Seasonal plants are regularly cultivated and maintained in the botanical garden, fostering biodiversity and experiential learning.
  • Green Audit: The Eco Club has successfully conducted a Green Audit of the college to assess and improve the institution’s environmental performance.
  • Eradication of Cannabis: The Eco Club actively participates in identifying and removing wild cannabis growth in and around the campus, promoting a safe and clean environment.

Road Safety Club

The Road Safety Club of Thakur Sain Negi Govt. College, Reckong Peo is an active student-oriented initiative dedicated to promoting awareness about traffic rules, responsible driving, and pedestrian safety. The club organizes awareness campaigns, rallies, workshops, seminars, and interactive sessions to educate students and the local community about road safety measures and accident prevention.

Through collaborative activities with traffic authorities and community organizations, the club aims to cultivate disciplined road behaviour, reduce road accidents, and foster a culture of safety and responsibility among youth.

Road Safety Club Activity

Two-Day Road Safety Workshop

Thakur Sen Negi Government College, Reckong Peo, Kinnaur
(25th & 27th February 2025)

A two-day Road Safety Workshop was successfully organized by the Road Safety Club of the college on 25th and 27th February 2025 in collaboration with the District Administration, RTO Rampur, Police, Health, Public Works, and Education Departments. The workshop aimed to promote awareness about road safety, traffic rules, and responsible driving among students.

Day 1 (25th February 2025):
The workshop was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Uttam Chand Chauhan and resource person ASI Pyare Lal (Kinnaur Police). Various competitions including Dialogue Presentation, Poster Making, Slogan Writing, and Painting were conducted, with 31 participants from schools and the college. Around 130 students attended the session. ASI Pyare Lal delivered an informative lecture on road safety, traffic regulations, and the consequences of drug abuse. Competitions were judged by an esteemed panel of faculty members and experts.

Day 2 (27th February 2025):
The day began with an awareness rally flagged off by SP Kinnaur Abhishek Sekhar at T.S. Negi Chowk under the theme “Road Safety – Life Protection.” Students, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and officials actively participated.

The concluding ceremony was graced by District Magistrate Kinnaur Amit Sharma and other dignitaries. Informative lectures were delivered emphasizing adherence to traffic rules, defensive driving, and accident prevention. Winners of the competitions were awarded prizes, and traffic police, NCC cadets, and volunteers were recognized for their efforts in promoting road safety awareness.

The workshop concluded successfully with a collective pledge towards ensuring safer roads and responsible driving practices.
